Erythropoietin-stimulating agents are used either alone or in conjunction with chemotherapy in multiple myeloma to induce erythropoiesis and treat anemia, which can lead to a significant improvement in a patient's performance status and quality of life.
Chemotherapy is used to reduce the burden of disease. Bisphosphonates promote bone healing and provide secondary prophylaxis against skeletal-related events. Immunosuppressants modify the body's immune response by inhibiting key factors in the immune system.
