Polyuria, polydipsia, and polyphagia are clinical signs and symptoms of type 2 DM. Other symptoms of type 2 DM include blurred vision, lower extremity paresthesia, and repeated candidiasis (candida balanitis in male patients).

Chest pain and shortness of breath, sudden weight gain and leg edema, and hypotension and vertigo are not typical presenting signs and symptoms of type 2 DM but may represent comorbid conditions and complications associated with type 2 DM (eg, tightness in the chest due to angina or shortness of breath due to heart disease).
